About

A calm guide for the weeks nobody prepares you for

Reva exists because getting cleared to move again and knowing what to do are two completely different things. Most people experience only the first one.

Why we built it

Maya tore her ACL and came home to a photocopied sheet

Six weeks post-surgery, cleared by the surgeon, handed a photocopied exercise sheet, and told to keep it gentle. Maya had spent eight years leading consumer product at two companies. She had no idea what was safe to do on a Tuesday morning at home. The sheet said “quad sets, 3 sets of 10” and nothing else.

She talked to everyone she knew who had been through something similar. The gap was the same every time: cleared by a clinician, then weeks of being unsure. Not because the care was bad. Because the gap between a clinical visit and a normal Tuesday morning at home is genuinely hard to fill.

Daniel had spent seven years building machine learning systems that read plain-language descriptions and produced structured, checkable output. The two of them started Reva in May 2023 in Boulder, with Priya joining shortly after to own the line the product will not cross: what counts as a red flag, when a session must stop, and where Reva says clearly that this belongs with a clinician, not an app.

Reva is not physical therapy and will not pretend to be. It guides gentle general movement for people getting back to normal, starts soft, and screens every session before you see it. The promise is narrow on purpose: move a little better every day, safely, at home.

The team

9 people, working on this full time

Five of them are below. Everyone is based in the United States and nobody here has a second job. Reva is what we do.

Maya Ellison

Co-founder and CEO

Boulder, CO

Spent eight years leading consumer product, then tore her ACL and lived the gap herself: cleared by the surgeon, handed a photocopied sheet, and left to work out what was safe to do on a Tuesday morning at home. Reva is the calm guide she wanted for those first slow months.

Daniel Okafor

Co-founder and CTO

Boulder, CO

Built machine learning systems for seven years, most recently models that read plain-language health descriptions and turn them into structured, checkable output. He owns the session engine, the model routing layer, and the safety screen that runs on every session before a person sees it.

Priya Nair, PT, DPT

Head of Clinical Safety

Boulder, CO

Licensed physical therapist with eleven years in outpatient orthopedic and post-surgical care. She owns the line Reva will not cross: what counts as a red flag, when a session must stop, and where Reva says clearly that this belongs with a clinician, not an app.

Sofia Marchetti

Founding Engineer

Denver, CO

Works on the parts nobody sees: the schema that keeps a generated session safe and well shaped, the daily meter, and the feedback loop that turns a person reporting soreness into a gentler session the next day.

Theo Grant

Design

Portland, OR

Designs the session view, which is the whole product on the morning it matters. His rule: someone three weeks out of surgery, tired and a little unsure, should feel calmer after opening Reva, not busier.

The people and investors named on this page are illustrative. Reva is a Pre-Seed company and we would rather say so plainly than have you discover it later. The session engine, the red-flag safety screen, and the free daily session all work exactly as described.
